Phi Rho Chapter’s Commitment to
Internationally Mandated Programs in the Pine Belt

The Phi Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated proudly fulfills the Fraternity’s Internationally Mandated Programs, actively serving the Pine Belt area of Southeast Mississippi. Through these initiatives, the chapter embodies the core principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift, addressing critical community needs and empowering individuals across all walks of life. From conducting Achievement Week activities that highlight the importance of excellence in education and leadership to hosting Scholarship Programs that provide financial aid to deserving students, Phi Rho continues to foster opportunities for the next generation. The chapter also spearheads impactful events such as the Talent Hunt, giving young artists a platform to showcase their abilities, and the Social Action Programs, which address pressing issues like voter registration, health awareness, and community development. Additionally, the chapter prioritizes mentoring through the Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative, supporting youth with guidance and positive role models. These efforts create lasting impacts on the Pine Belt community by improving access to resources, celebrating local achievements, and fostering unity. The chapter’s programs uplift individuals and families, ultimately contributing to the region’s social and economic well-being while exemplifying the Fraternity’s enduring commitment to service. Through its dedication, Phi Rho continues to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood while making a tangible difference in Southeast Mississippi.

ACHIEVEMENT WEEK

Observed each November and is designed to recognize those individuals at the local and international levels who have contributed to community uplift. A High School Essay Contest is to be held in conjunction with Achievement Week.

COLLEGE ENDOWMENT FUND

Each year the fraternity gives at least $50,000 to historically black college and universities in furtherance of Omega’s commitment to provide philanthropic support.

FATHERHOOD AND MENTORING

Every level of the Fraternity, particularly at the chapter level, is asked to play an active role in support of the partnership by actively engaging in the promotion of the Fraternity’s Fatherhood Mentoring initiative.

HEALTH INITIATIVES

Chapters facilitate, participate and coordinate activities that promote good health practices. Some of the programs are the Charles Drew Blood Drive and partnership with the American Diabetes Association.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

March 12th of each year chapters conduct an appropriate service to recall the memory of those members who have entered into Omega Chapter.

NAACP

Every district and chapter of the fraternity is required to maintain a Life Membership at Large in the NAACP. All members of the fraternity are encouraged to join the NAACP.

RECLAMATION AND RETENTION

A concerted effort at the international, district and local levels to retain active brothers and return inactive brothers to full participatory status.

SCHOLARSHIP

Promotes academic excellence among the undergraduate members. Graduate chapters provide financial assistance to student members and non-members.

SOCIAL ACTION

Chapters participate in activities that will uplift their communities. Some of the activities include: voter registration, Assault on Illiteracy; Habitat for Humanity; mentoring; and participation in fundraisers for charitable organizations.

STEM

The Fraternity’s STEM initiatives are designed to get students across the world excited about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

TALENT HUNT PROGRAM

Provides exposure, encouragement and financial assistance to talented young people participating in the performing arts. Winners are awarded recognition and may be given college scholarships. Click here to visit website.
